Hi everyone
I have a 407 SW and the following is likely to be of interest to you...
The alarm doesn't work if the car is breached anywhere behind the driver's area.
My local dealer carried out the following test on mine and their Manager's car (same model) and the alarm didn't sound.
*** Alarm is set whilst someone is sitting in the rear seats. He then moved, waved his arms about etc and the alarm didn't sound. Only when he reached forward did it go off. Same when the rear window was breached.***
I have told Peugeot and the Dealer has done a report for Peugeot also. This was over 2 months ago. No response.
Peugeot don't seem interested but I'm sure all 407 SW owners will be!! Especially when they find their insurance invalid in the event of a claim. You are probably blissfully unaware at this time.
I have also tried to get some info from Thatcham as to whether this is acceptable or indeed up to spec for a cat 1 alarm! They won't answer my e mails. Is this well known to Peugeot and Thatcham and they are hoping no-one notices, I wonder!?
Perhaps it would be a good idea to conduct your own tests like that above and contact your dealer and Peugeot as I'm sure only a flood of complaints of a similar nature will prompt anything to be done.
I hope this has been of benefit and would welcome any feedback.
Kind regards
Skyranger

Best thing to do in this sort of situations is to contact magazines or TV programs. Car manufacturers hate bad press and tend to be a lot more helpful when a complaint is handled through professionals who have the ear of a large audience.
