Well lets see who thinks what, following my Peugeot & BT comment!
My example knowing older Peugeot -
Mr X - hello how much is a new wing for my car.
Pug D - you wont get one of those (no effort to look it up).
Mr X - Oh (and walks away)
Next day Mr X goes to the library with his old packet of microfische and looks up the wing.
Mr X - hello how much is a 1234.65 part
Pug D - £151.50+vat in stock in France can be ordered.
----------
So explain to me firstly the great customer service that Mr X has to trudge to the library everytime he wants to spend money. Secondly for a company who seems to be having a hard time selling its products new at the moment (anybody seen more than one 1007?), youd think they want to sell more parts at high profit. Thirdly those older parts sat in a warehouse are costing money in storage costs for their business and there are people wanting to buy them but cant because the parts man couldnt give a t**s.
So I'll kick off my vote with a Rio ! (thats not a soft drink!).

Don't get confused between the Dealers and the car manufacturer they represent. In the case of Peugeot, I'm afraid to say that I have seen more bad or disappointing Dealers than good ones.
The problem you highlight is pretty much general and you'd encounter the same issue on the continent for example. The fact is that Dealers can't be bothered to look up in their microfiches any more, only on the computerised system.
I suffered exactly what you've described at the Peugeot Dealer in Aberdeen. Went there 2 or 3 times to look up for a part in their microfiches. Inevitably I was told they did not have the microfiches any more until I insisted they looked in their folder marked "Microfiches" on the shelf. Surprise! The 504 fiches were there. I got my part number, the item was available so I ordered it. On my next visit, same story, except that when I insisted on looking at the microfiches, the guy told me to keep them, which I did!
I'd therefore recommend everyone to try and get hold of a set of microfiche to same time and effort at the Dealers, because they won't really help us with parts for old cars...

I was having a coffee break at work today and a girl started tell me and my friend about her car problems in the last few years. Gearbox problem wont go in to first very well, suspension problems, interior falls to bits, engine does run right and the list went on. When I said sound like a Peugeot 206, she said how did you know...... Her dealer even how says write to Peugeot dont tell us... 3 years of warranty hell, she spent every penny of savings for it.
