Pininfarina got it so right with the predecessor, Peugeot got it so wrong on this one! Not a pretty car. I'm wondering how it sells, don't see many on the roads...

Pininfarina got it so right with the predecessor, Peugeot got it so wrong on this one! Not a pretty car. I'm wondering how it sells, don't see many on the roads... In many ways this car is much more the successor to the 504 coupé than the 406. The 406 was much more sporty to match the drop dead looks. The 407 isn't really sporty at all. The 2.7 HDi turbo that Peugeot lent me for the CPUK National Rally was a fantastic cruiser, very comfortable inside and a nice enough ride without being harsh or too soft. Once moving it went pretty well too with buckets of torque. The auto box was a bit slow on the uptake and its get up and go from a standing start got up and went weeks ago. The syling is indeed a let down. It just proves that there's more to designing coupés than just chopping two doors off, which is why firms like Pininfarina exist still. The more immediate problem with sales must be down to the price. The car I had was fully specced out and weighed in at a gob smacking £44,000 which is, quite frankly, insane for a Peugeot (or any car come to that). Same story with the equally slow selling 1007 - nice car but around 60% too expensive.
