Hi. I've just put down a deposit on a 407SW HDI 2 litre but since then have read several reports on the net about poor reliability and customer service. Please can anyone put my mind at ease with some positve comments as I really like the car and looks like it will do everything I want it to. The car I am buying is an 05 with 20K on the clock. Many thanks Martin

I have gone one step further, I have just purchased this same model c/w auto gearbox. I have also read about poor reliabilty but in the end I looked at the quoted price for cover by Warranty Direct and found that they were not too expensive to insure. It was in fact about 60% of the cover for my now departed Volvo S80. Since however I only do about 5.000 miles p.a. and teh car still has one year of the original Peugeot warranty left, I will make a new assesment of the car in 12 months time, in the meantime it is a very pleasnt car to drive.

Just acquired a 136 BHP 56 model with 20k on the clock to replace 406 estate. A rather racy drive after the old faithful which looked after me for 156000 miles with no major problems. I like the 20k service intervals for the 407. The 2.1 TD 406 needed an oil change every 6k.
