Hi, Hope you get the 207 gti as its a fun car. As it has a twin scroll turbo increasing power is quite simple. Its the same engine thats in the Mini Cooper S and there are many aftermarket goodies for this engine already. It all depends how far you want to go......If you will be purchasing this car new I suggest you take time to run / break the engine in properly before trying to get any more power. In fact I would not do anything until you have around 8-10,000 miles [ 16,000 k's ].
Most obvious upgrade would be the software mapping but be careful with lesser known companies that promise silly figures at the expense of your engine...... A 25-30 Hp increase would be about right and a good intake pipe and filter would help release the breathing. Any more than that and you will be exceeding the engine stress parameters which would lead to failure in some components.
As with any upgrades only the best oil will do like Mobil 1. Turbo's de-grade oil very quickly so a good quality oil is essential.
Here in the UK we have companies like superchips that offer a gain of 25 hp and 60NM for 500 Pounds or approx 1200 AUD. Their mapping is very good.
The only thing to consider is how the Peugeot warranty would look at this in Aus....
My wife is from the gold coast and have been there many times and I have to say I am jealous of how good your roads are. 207 Gti would be the right tool for your roads no doubt...

Thanks for that.
I've had a look and there are a few places out there that do chipping but i'm paranoid about voiding my warranty. Same with the pipercross induction kits. A guy from syd has installed this kit and it sounds great. its on utube. but he does say it voids warranty.
i'm interested in getting an exhaust for the car though. can't find any brands out there that make 207 RC specific exhausts. milltek have a turbo back exhaust system for the new mini cooper s with the 1.6L T engine and it sounds great, but they don't make it for the pug........
do you know of any places that make them?
Thanks

There is an Austrian company called Remus that make various exhausts for the 207 and are just around the corner from producing a system for the GTi. The pictures on the Link below show what is available for the smaller engine but the rear pipe options will be the same on the GTi, the catback sections are still in progress so keep an eye out on their website...... The rear pipes have control valves which are emission compliant but when the revs are high they open, similar to what BMW use on their performance models... Not cheap but the quality is very good. Have a look at www.remus.at/media/productspdf/662506199.pdf
