Hi all. Just wanting some advice if possible. Whats the laws on manufacturer recalls? i.e: how long are they expected to honour them? I've got a 1996 Peugeot 405 which has developed a fault where the airbag disconnects. So in the unfortunate event of an accident, it wont deploy. Here's a link to my thread in the tech section for more info about that - clubpeugeotuk.proboards36.com/index.cgi?board=Technical&action=display&thread=1165348792I've done a bit of research, and found out from theaa website that this was a fault Peugeot were aware of - hence, they called back all effected cars (the entire 405 model range apparantly). But this was a while ago. This is the link to the aa site: - The AA recalls section The recall was launched in 1995. I was thinking though, with it being the airbag - you reckon they would still honour it today? Or would I have to get it fixed myself? Any help greatly appreciated! ;D

I thought that a recall was a recall and that any car subject to that recall would be fixed however long it took. That's why manufacturers hate doing them, apart from the bad publicity.

Update: I called my local Peugeot dealer to ask them - they dont have any record of my car at all let alone any outstanding recalls. I just left it at that - I've always had bad experiences with my Peugeot garage so i'm just going to get it fixed myself.
They DID say however that if there was any outstanding recalls then they would honour them even today.
But as you said - it costs them so they will try everything under the sun to avoid it.
I gave them my Reg No & my VIN - they couldn't find anything at all about the car, not on ANY system! As I say though, cant be bothered with them if thats the way they want to be...
Took the car to a auto electrician yesterday and he seemed to know what I was talking about and said he's seen it before too.
