Ive got an alloy mi16 with twin 45 webers in my 205 and the oil pressure is doing my head in!. Its fine when its cold, its when it gets warm, it drops dramaticly on low revs. I put a seperate oil pressure gauge in because i didnt trust the 18yr old original gauge and when its cold its 100psi! when its warmed up the pressure would drop until the engine cuts out. I try to keep it at 1200rpm or above as it sits at about 20psi at 1100/1200rpm and ive been told anything below 20psi would cause damage?. help

I did have the engine rebuilt but its always had this oil pressure problem. Its now done about 2000miles since rebuid. What would cause the oil pressure to behave like this?

1st get a good external oil pressure gauge to re-check the pressure. Then, if your sure the crank and shells where rebuilt correctly?? and you have a genuine peugeot oil filter and top spec` oil, have a look at the oil pump to see if the relief valve is not stuck.

Thanks for the replys!! I went to have the carbs set up and after a rebuild of the carbs it nows idles at 1000rpm with 15 - 20psi oil pressure. Before hand the idle mixture screw would do nothing, but now it works fine. Still abit erractic idle tho but i think that just carbs and uprated cams for you.
I should have 528 catcams but i think i might have 527's or even std cams! Does anyone know how to spot the difference, i.e markings, colour?
Also im running 8v dizzy with adapter and i was either gonna get an mi16 loom or an omex 200 ignition system fitted. Does anyone know the best one to have/ cheapest etc. Thanks
