Hello all. Hello all. Am new to the wonderful world of Peugeot but so far so good! I have a couple of queries about a '97 406 Diesel estate I recently bought;
It's basically in good condition but there is a fluid leak to the right of the engine bay and it doesn't look like engine oil (although I could be wrong). The power steering tank is coated on an oily substance that also covers the various pipes below it, collecting on the engine mount base. Does anyone have any ideas what / why this is and how I can fix it for £0.99??
Also, some of the dash bulbs are blown (speedo and some of the heater controls are in darkness). I'm guessing replacement is fairly straightforward (I have the Haynes)? However, the digital milometer does not come on at all and I'm worried this might be a costly problem?? Really hope someone can assist. Cheers.

welcome, the clip on the bottom pipe on the power steering bottle will be the problem with the leak. really comon problem with these, it is a use once clip and although it looks tight they come undone. what you will have to do is chop it off forcefully but without breaking the bottle and put a proper hose clip on it.
the digital milometer has a bulb behind it, again a comon fault and dead easy to replace, takes me about 15- 20 mins, but i have done loads of them so will take you about an hour. be carefull not to break the plastic lugs on the fasia panel.

Many thanks Frank for a helpful and swift response! I'll check the hose (although I'm hoping the hose is rubber so that I can take out the whole tank to get access to it? Otherwise getting in there will be a bit tight.?).
Glad the bulb issue isn't serious too!

no need to take the tank out mate, and the hose is rubber. just prise the old clip off and slide on a hose clip
