Hello, I have put a deposit on a 207 s 5 door 57 plate, which I have been told is the 16v model, having checked the reg number on autotrader it says (75), which I assume is the 8v model. The garage say the have nothing to say it is definitely the 16v model other than that it doesn't say its a 8v!
Is there anyway for sure to check whether it is the 8 or 16v version? I have the engine and chassis number...

Well, even Peugeot UK can't get their facts right... On their web site, if you select The 1.4l 8v 75bhp model, the technical specs of the engine says 16v! You don't find the same mistake on web sites of other countries. Go figure! Nevertheless, there should be no confusion, the 75bhp engine is 8v. So it all depends on which 1.4l engine this 207 S has, if indeed the car is fitted with a 1.4l petrol engine...

Actually I have just looked at the reg doc and it shows the C0 emmissions that tally up with the 16v (I think) - CO. 0.466. CO2 (g/km). 152. I assume this would be fairly conclusive.
This isn't the VTi engine...which I believe has lower emmissions. Apart from that and the bhp is there a massive difference between the 1.4 VTi engine and the one that predates it? In particular regarding reliability?
Thanks for replies.

I think only the VIN/engine n° will absolutely confirm the model you're getting. Maybe you ought to verify that you're not paying 16v price for the (cheaper ?) 8v version.

Ok, well according to your VIN n°, this is a 5dr 207 "Trendy", 5sp, fitted with ET3J4 engine --> i.e. the 90bhp 16v 1.4l (non-VTi) version. The car would have been 1st registered on 13/09/2007.
The 95bhp VTi engine (EP3) was available from Sept 2007, so your 207 would be one the last with non-VTi 1.4 16v engine (ET3).
If you register on the Peugeot servicebox web site, you'll be able to enter your VIN n° and get the full original specs of your car...

Thanks alot for that - at least it confirms the model / engine I was paying for. Maybe I should have gone for the VTi...
Cheers
