Hi all, newbie here and hope you can give me some advice. i had an omega estate 2.5 which i used to tow my caravan with, but wrote it off in a 20mph rear end shunt! Have now bought a pug 406 estate 7 seater and wondered if any of you tow a large caravan (fully loaded it's 15cwt,never will reach that weight though). the pug is a 90hp. question is, are they powerful enough and heavy enough to handle caravan ok? sorry about long post, but would be grateful for feedback before i go out and spend more money fitting a tow bar! cheers, paignton red

Hello there
I'm not sure your 406 is going to be quite as good a tow car as your old Omega. It's not as powerful and lighter so it's going to struggle a bit with a full 15cwt van on the end. The Omega is a great car and comfy too, buit then again so is the 406. You might have been better off with the 110hp turbo diesel though which has loads of lovely torque for towing.
The 406 will do the job though.

I'm not sure what the bhp on it was but my dad had a petrol 406 estate (I think it was a 2.0l) for several years, and he found it good for towing trailers of Sound equipment around. One comment that he made was that the gearbox ratios seemed to suit the car better with the trailer on the back better than they did with the car on its own.
Hope this helps
