Hello
I introduced myself on the general board and I was looking for some basic advice.
I have recently bought a 1992 205 1.8 TD. It's my first experience of Peugeot and I just wondered if anyone can give me some more info about them.
She's going to be a project for me, she seems to have a sweet torquey engine and although my Hubby has picked up a few minor problems it seems in ok condition.
Anyway what I want to know are what are the good points on a 205, it's strengths and so forth and also what to watch out for, any potential weaknesses or faults that I need to keep on top of.
I really want to make this car my own and a bit special, and I have a soft spot for the older car.
Any advice and help from you wise people would be appreciated.
Ta
Clare

205 diesel`s were very tuff and reliable, great little cars. But that was 17yrs ago!It will depend on how its been looked after and serviced in the past.Find yourself a small independent Peugeot Specialist to check it all over.Rear axle radius arm bearings will need looking at.Make sure the cambelt has been replaced, then it will be all the normal things associated with age and mileage?

I will second what old pug said. 205s do not normally rust much, but the common places to watch out for are the boot floor, bootlid around the corners of the rear window and the front bottom edges of the windscreen near the bonnet hinges. Having said this I have had few issues with any of these on my current 205.
On my experience they are tough little cars and keep going even when the odd problem occurs so they rarely do not get you from A to B.
