My '98 406 TD is very smoky on start-up and I'm told the glow plugs probably need doing. Not being hugely mechanically minded myself I got a quote from my local garage of £200 (including parts and labour). This sounds like a lot.? He told me that this is partly due to the amount of "stuff" that needs taking off to access them - does this sound right? I'd appreciate any (cheap) solutions / comments.

ICME shows it's a 0.8 hour job, so its £46ish + (0.8hr labour + VAT)., so £200 does sound pretty steep. They're not that difficult to access either, so they're either trying to squeeze you or it's their way of telling you they don't want the job.
