Hi
I have a french army (hotchkiss) jeep that is fitted with a peugeot diesel 4cyl non turbo engine. I need to be able to identify the engine so I can buy spares.
Is anyone out there a diesel expert (1970s to 1980s I guess ). I think the french call this the idenden engine?
Any help hugely apreciated.

"Indenor" engine from the now-deceased Peugeot subsidiary of the same name.
These engines were fitted to the 404s, 504s and 604s, vans such as J7/J9 and also some Ford (Sierra/Granada) and Opel if I remember well. There are several versions: 1.9l, 2.1l and 2.3l to list a few...
There were also Turbo Diesel versions 2.3/2.5l fitted to the 604s and 505s.
Normally, you should see "Indenor" stamped on top of the engine bloc and then you need to locate a plate that should indicate the exact engine type.
