Hi All, Clutching at straws here but im hoping someone might be able to offer some insight My partners 2005 307 1.4S has developed a "Low oil pressure" warning at idle...the strange thing is this warning dissapears upon the engine being revved...its been run for a good hour or so between myself and the mechanic and hasnt shown any signs of oil starvation etc.... So far we have changed the oil and pressure sensor but the warning is still present.....The next logical step is to start checking the oil pump and crank bearings....I was hoping that someone might of had this problem previously and can offer some insight.... The mechanic has had a pressure gauge on it and sure enough...no oil pressure at idle but 50-60 Psi upon being revved. He also mentioned it could be the pressure releif valve sticking..anyway hopefully someone can offer some insight thanks Pete P.S - Sorry its a crap first post...im usually found on Pistonheads if any of you guys are on there.

Hi All, have son in laws 53 1.4 petrol with low oil pressure probs. replaced the pump and sensor and it didn't make any difference. Took of the filter housing from the block (4 bolts) to check if an oil leak was coming from the joint to the block. In the housing there is what looks like a none return valve; perhaps to stop the oil draining from filter back to the sump and reducing the time on starting with little or no oil to the bearings? Anyway; initially tried lung pressure and then used an air line to blow through the "non return valve" and it was as if it was partially jammed to begin with but with a piece of foam plastic packing to seal the oval oil inlet hole to the none return valve eventually got a decent flow through it. Possibly dirt holding it closed or partially open? Worth a try before spending megabucks on an engine or bearings. The engine didn't sound rattly before or after and the oil pressure light no longer predicting disaster so hope we have fixed it! Thoughts anyone?
