Hello all. The handbrake on my '98 406 travels a long way up but still does very little in terms of holding the car. Can anyone advise whether there is much adjustment on the cable and if so, how I do it? If there's only minimal adjustment I guess I'm looking at a new cable.? Hope you can help.

doesnt really matter either way, discs still have there own handbrake shoes, thake the drums or discs off and make sure the shoes are ok, if they are. then they also have there own adjusters, slacken the cables off and adjust the shoes on there adjuster, when there ok adjust the cables

Many thanks all. I'll give it a try at the weekend and keep you posted. PS drums at the back surprisingly! I thought drums died with the dinosaurs!?
