The infra-red alarm system on my '93 405 has been dormant during my two year's of ownership - until last Friday!

it decided to arm itself.
I've never used the 'plipper' to lock/unlock my car, as with my previous two 405's there's a communication issue between the plipper and the receiver.
Is it possible to upgrade the alarm system / remote central locking to a radio signal (maybe by changing the key and receiver to a later Peugeot radio system)?
Or would it have to be a custom aftermarket system?
