I have recently purchased a Y reg(01) 3L V6 406 Coupe. The seller advertised it as the 210bhp version but I wasn't entirely convinced and had a data check and AA inspection carried out. Neither of the above or my local garage were able to confirm. I've looked at the spec for both 190bhp (1997-2000) and 210bhp (1999-2003) models and there is very little in it. There's a chance the car may be 2000 but plated/registered in 2001. The data check said 2001 but then that may just be going off the Y reg 01 plate!
My question is, can anyone tell me a way of checking what bhp my engine is? I have the engine number, vrn and vin numbers. That should be enough. I'd rather not pay to have a check done online. Is there anything visual I could check on the car to confirm the engine model?
Cheers

The difference in specs are indeed minimal between models and series 1 & 2, although they exist... Now, the engines are very easy to differentiate (engine tops are different when you open up the bonnet), I'm surprised you didn't find this info yourself in a matter of seconds on the web! V6 194bhp: V6 210bhp: If you're still unsure, register an account on the Peugeot Service Box web site and just enter your VIN n°. A V6 model manufactured in 2000 should definitely be a 210bhp version.

Thats fantastic news. I've had a look and it's the 210bhp model - the one I was originally after. Thanks so much for your help. I'm new to Peugeots and am finding my feet.
