I have recently purchased a 1997 406 2L GLX that has been lovingly cared for since new, and now requires an 80K service. Unfortunately when I bought the car, the immobilisor was set to auto with no code available, and the seller was unable to provide the radio code. Can anyone recommend a garage in the Aberdeen area to carry out the service, and also, does anyone know the most efficient way of obtaining the codes?

With regards to servicing, any garage can do it and there are plenty around Aberdeen. Ask for a quote in any case. In which area do you stay? With regards to the code, try Glenvarigill, Bridge of Don (are they still in Altens as well?) and give them the VIN of your car to do a search in the database. This certainly works for the radio code (don't know about the immobiliser) provided you still have the original radio fitted to the car. I once found my 406 radio locked because they had disconnected the battery during servicing and I did not know the code. I went back to the service reception where they looked on the computer and gave me the code. 'ara best...

hi for your imobiliser its worth trying the factory presets of 1111 or 0000, do not try more than 3 times else it will lock, if they dont work then somone has changed the code and if they have forget it. do the lights light up on the keypad? if not its been disconected most probably due to the wires being broken behind it, if so forget it.
