My 607 3.0 (2000 model), SE regularly burns ignition coils on various cyliners. The dealer tends to just replace the coil but it's an expensive problem and a major nuisance on a car that's otherwise very reliable as a top of the range model. Has anyone else had this trouble?

Alas, it's all too common I'm afraid. I don't know if the same unit in other models suffers thus, or if it's something peculiar to the ignition system on the 6.

Yes, it happened to me 3 times on my 406 V6 (same engine as yours). It's a well known issue and there are 2 types of coils: one that is crap and another that is not (which I eventually managed to get). Unfortunately, I don't know details of them but you have to ask the dealer to replace them by the reliable type.

With other Peugeots Sagem coil packs are crap and we are told to fit Bougicord.
