Hello.
I'm looking for some advice on my Peugeot 206 1.9D LX.
I was driving it about three weeks ago and without warning, the engine cut out. I had to have the car recovered to my house (it couldn't be repaired at the side of the road). I then had it taken to a garage (on a recovery truck) for repair.
The initial thought at the garage was that the fuel pump had gone, but, the mechanic managed to get the car running again. He tried drawing diesel through clear piping to check on the condition of the fuel; it was fine. I had the car serviced as a precaution as it was due one anyway and the fuel filter was full of crap.
The car had worked perfectly from that day, having been driven on one long journey and covered at least 400-500 miles. But, without any apparant reason, the car won't start now, having been fine since I collected it from the garage.
I'm just wondering what the problem could be. The first time the car cut out, the fuel level was about the same as it is now, which is not too low for it to have ran out of fuel, but it seems more than a co-incidence.
I'm wondering if either the fuel gauge is not working properly, or, the in tank pump is not working as it should. I've heard that it is a common problem in these engines and that when the fuel level drops to a certain level, if the pump is not working as it should, the car can cut out.
Can any give me any ideas?
Thanks.
