Recently had rear screen smashed & items stolen. Autoglass technician stated that it is a common problem with this vehicle model. Peugeot state that they are unaware of any issue with the rear screen. The say there is no requirement for any extra security, I suggested them marketing something like internal bars to deter easy entry following a smashed rear tailgate screen. Is this a common problem? should the company design and offer some form of barrier device?

Hello Grus Sorry to hear about your loss. Must be very frustrating. I find it a bit hard to understand however how the autoglass man could point to this as a common problem with the 407 SW over other estate cars, sounds like a bit of BS to make him appear to have some kind of insider knowledge. ANY estate car will have this problem and fitting unsightly and obstructive internal bars would certianly annoy more customers than it helps, hence why no manufacturer does this. You could fit a dog bar as a solution.

Dog bars fit too far forward in the vehicle to prevent theft of items once the glass has been broken. Peugeot assure me that ALL their glass is laminated !!!.
