Cheers.. Danio Hello Danio Welcome to the forum. A few comments on your choices bearing in mind you are a learner driver 206 - newest car here. Going to be the most expensive to insure as the insurance company will assume you are going to have a prang at some point and the 206 will be by far the most expensive for them to fix. Third party insurance will make this cheaper but only means the bill will fall on YOUR pocket. I'd wait until you've got a few years experience. 306 - bigger car. Perhaps not the best car to learn in die to it's size, but not a bad choice. Smaller engined ones will be cheaper to insure but awful slow due to bigger car/smaller engine ratio. 205 - easily the best looking of all these choices. Cheap to buy, cheap to run, great to drive...but the oldest model here. Not so safe in crash and likely to need some careful attention to keep it running. 106 - winner! small, easy to drive, not afflicted with more recent Pug reliability woes, cheap to insure in small engine sizes but still a good drive in 1.1 form. Not as cheap to buy as a 205 but a much better first car. Hope this helps. It's only my opinion of course!

You could also look at the 107 - cheap to insure, £35 per year road tax, 60 mpg and has a reliable toyota engine.

Hi, I was driving a L reg 205 Style diesel until very recently - I had never driven since passing my test ten years ago. Its back brakes seized shortly after successfully getting me home through the 2ft floods in Gloucestershire recently, but the body work is still completely sound and rust free.
It was very easy to drive, and very difficult to stall (excellent for me). It was very cheap to run, and the insurance was quite low.
I am just about to buy a Roland Garros convertible which I have fallen in love with, but can heartily recommend checking out eBay for cheap 205 diesels, especially ones that are badly listed, as they can go for next to nothing, and you've got a car that will last you ages...
I also think the 205 has a lot of character and charm too

I bought my 205 with 68,000 which was quite rare as it was an L reg.... I have driven a car with 110,000 miles, and it was still going well last time I saw it. It all comes down to the general condition of the car and how well it's been looked after.... My Roland Garros is a 1991 model and has 150,000 on the clock, but it's been looked after by a real enthusiast....
The trick with eBay is to work out how much you are paying by month for the car... I bought my last one for £450 and it lasted me nine months, so at £50 a month, I think it was worth the money. If you pay £100 - £300 you can generally expect it to not last as long....

im jus gonna try and get 1 with quite low milage (below 100.000) but if i can find 1 lower then 90,000 then will tht last a wile? i will look after it soo much.. its gonna be lyk havin a baby LOL
