Need some help on a T reg 406 HDi with RHZ type engine.
It's had an engine jet wash yesterday apparently - Yes I know that's bad to kick things off but the ECU was all covered up.
Today it started smoking really bad and the engine only revs to around 3k. At this point it misfires and smoke pours out of the exhaust flexi joint.
I assumed a collapsed cat but after disconnecting the exhaust before the flexi the fault still happens.
Sticking turbo? Injector stuck open? It did throw up a fault regarding boost pressure on the Bosch KTS machine. What would the best diagnostic procedure. I know you can do a leak off drip test but I don't know any values what it should be.
I need help chaps and you're the only ones for the job!!!

first things first start by drying out all the electrical connections inc the ecu plug. then the only thing to do is find a good pug tech with a pps machine to have a look, could by any of the sensors that have water in them

Cheers Frank
Yeah. I got the airline blower on all the sensors but they seemed dry enough. Wondering if any of the three sensors (ocr sensors are they called) on the bulkhead have water in. Are they interchangable or are they different?
Cheers for replying mate! Appreciated!

there vacumm solenoids, it could be one of those, but as said it could be water in any of the sensors, and theres alot. you need to find someone with a pps who knows how to use it

Think I may sub the job out to a diesel specialist. Can the vac solenoids be swapped around? See if the fault changes.
I hate working Saturdays!

I`ll 2nd Frank, you must have water in somewhere,or the pressure "split something?" You need a good Pug Tech to "plug in" and trace the fault. If you go to www.thegoodgaragescheme.co.uk and look for Peugeot Specialists in Leeds you will find 3,I like the sound of Citraulix Ltd? Any one know these chaps? Give them a call Dave.

It does sound good doesn't it! Never heard of it though.
Anyway, faulty EGR solenoid I think. The EGR solenoid sould be running between something like 80% - 94%. Instead it was at 99.2%. All 3 solenoids are the same part number so I swapped them around. It ran better without smoking, but still not right. Ordered new one from peugeot for tuesday. I'll let you know how I get on.
Moral of the story - Don't jet wash engines!!

Yep, it was the solenoid at fault! Running fine now and passed the taxi mot test.
Still got the master tech magic in me!
