Gearbox, clutch, rotting exhausts and flexi joints, loose and corroded heatshields, rattly top ends if it's been run on cheap oil, poor interior trim, play in front wishbones, electrical problems caused by an iffy BSI, and then all the problems that come with a hot hatch, such as kerbed alloys, shagged brakes, frayed tyres, tired suspension etc.
It's one of those cars that really needs a professional inspection before you buy, because they tend to be either very bad or very good.
