Just picked up a 52 plate 206 SW with 81K miles. Chap I bought from has had for 5 years but not changed cam belt in that time, so I guess its still on its original. Looked online to try to find recommended intervals and came up with variations from 60-140K! Called our local main dealer today who advised 80K or 8 years, so I think it needs doing. Please can anyone give an estimate of what it will cost - I won't be using main dealer obviously, but only recently had a belt done on my Astra (now for sale) and that cost nearly £300! Also, is it just a straight forward belt and tensioners replacement or is there anything else involved (Astra needed new water pump as part of the job).
Thanks in advance for replies.

Its a straight forward job to any skilled mechanic, allways use an O/E belt and pulley kit and check the water pump as its driven by the belt. The cost will depend on your location and the type of outfit you use.A good small independant Peugeot specialist in the Thames Valley should charge £150-£175 labour + VAT. A cam belt kit £80-£100.
