I have a G reg 1.3 Talbot engined 309 (G1 engine), I changed the fuel pump, dist cap, rotor arm and ignition leads. I took off the old leads but didnt note the order they were fitted in relation from the dist cap to the plugs. The Haynes manual states firing order is 1 nearest clutch then4,3,2, but I dont know which is which on the cap? The engine will turn over but wont fire up, it occasionally backfires through the carb. What do I do? do I need to reset the timing, plug gaps? the pump is sending fuel to the carb ok. Am I missing something obvious? Any help much appreciated, am frustrated and desperate! Thanks, Ken.
