306 no turbo effect

Hello everybody

Can some clever blighter please advise me on why I get no turbo effect from my 306 TD?
It starts first time runs as sweet as a nut there is no missfiring or whistling yet when I put the throttle down it just gradually picks up at a snails pace. When compared to my sons 306TD it is pedestrian like. I did replace the turbo with a known good replacement but it was just the same!

The car was given to me and has always performed this way.

Any ideas please?

is it the old 1900 td?? if so change the air and fuel filters, if there blocked even slightly they are really sluggish

Check the boost pipe from the intercooler to the diesel pump is not split. Its a small pipe at the front of the intercooler ( approx 15mm diameter ) and runs to the diesel pump ( Approx 10 inches long ) This increases the fuel flow when turbo is on boost
