Just to say we are interested in buying a Peugeot 3008 1.6 diesel Sport / Exclusive auto and would value some opinions on this vehicle. At a later stage we may consider purchasing a small caravan to tow behind it. It is my understanding that in order to tow up to 1300kg we would require non energy saving tyres and would have to move from the 17" to 18" tyres. Thanks.

I had mine 12 days before the turbo blew up. The 1.6 diesel barely has the energy to make itself move, much less tow anything.
I also discovered the rear wiper was badly fitted and parked on the bodywork.
It was hit and miss whether the cruise worked.
And I found RUST on the inside lips of the rear doors.
And awesome car to drive, but mine at least has proven to be a dog. Pug are currently putting it right, but on the undertanding that if it's not A1 perfect with a cherry on top then I'll be rejecting it. They've given the missus a 107 to tool round in, which isn't good. That is to say we love 107s (my 3rd is currently on order) but having paid £22,000 I'm a bit pithed off to be given a 107 to drive while it's being fixed.
Sounds scary? Well, anecdotally I'm a very rare case for a 3008, so I'll reserve final judgement until I see how good a job they do.

On the test drive we found it to be quite perky three up, but I have serious reservations about its towing capabilities. Two things I found not so good was hooking in the seat belt on the driver's side and you cannot determine the front end of the car. Dealer had more interst in us than the nissan dealer. At the moment it is a toss up between the 3008 and a Quashqai 2.0L petrol auto but the latter is a lot heavier on fuel.

I wouldn't describe it as 'perky' myself. Prior to that I'd had a 308 with the same engine and that was quite brisk, but the extra 200kg and different upper cog gearing in the 3008 make it a sluggard going from one to another.
I would go for the 2 litre HDi if it had to be a diesel and I wanted to tow.
