Expert Van 1.9 DW8 diesel overheating

My engine recently overheated after having been running fine.

When I checked in the thermostat housing there was no thermostat in there. Having put a new one in and refilled the coolant the van now over heats even quicker than without a thermostat.

I had also noticed my radiator fan doesn't come on so I guess that's a switch or relay as it runs when I jump it to the battery.

Any ideas gratefully received....

First job is to get the cooling fan circuit working.It could be a number of things so get a diagnostic/fault code test done.If it overheats at speed it will be a blocked radiator as well.

Am getting a diagnostic done asap to try to isolate the fault.
