Hi,
According to the V5, my 304 Cab was registered in March 1973, however I'm pretty certain that it was actually manufactured in 1972.
Does anyone know how I can prove my car's actual date of manufacture and so hopefully apply for a Historic Vehicle Tax disc? I'm sure I remember reading in The Peugeotist about someone who had done this by getting in touch with the factory. Any contact information or advice would be gratefully received.

You can ask a Date Certificate to the Peugeot Museum. It'll cost you a few pounds but you will get a Peugeot-stamped fully validated certificate that will specify the exact date at which the vehicle exited the factory.
Other than that, if you can provide the serial n°, I can get you a rough estimate.

Thank you both for your replies. I've just checked the V5 again and the car was actually first registered on 8/1/73 - one day beyond the exemption date! 504V6Ti - I'll take you up on your offer if that's ok and email you the details within the next couple of days.

Glad to be of help! It's worth trying still. I thought I'd come to a dead end with an old L reg Beetle I restored a couple of years ago. It had been off the road since 1982 but after much chasing, they let me have historic status! Apparently DVLA lost a lot of records due to a fire in 1983 so a lot of dates are guessed.
Also, there's no better feeling than walking into your post office and getting a full 12 months tax for free!! Good luck with your quest!
PS - Did you try putting your reg into the link above? Did it come up with the same date?

Sure, send me a PM with the serial n° and I'll look it up.
