I have a 2004 607 3.0 petrol. Every few months the engine starts miss-firing badly but intermittently and I have to replace all of the ignition coils, which I have now done about 3 times. I have noticed that the problem only occurs on hot days e.g. 28c and above. Sometimes the engine management system gets totally scrambled. When I switch off and restart after a couple of minutes everything runs fine again for a few miles. Local agent is telling me I need to replace the petrol pump, but this does not sound right to me. Why should the pump run fine for 6 months after I have replaced the coils? To me it sounds like there is a link between the ambient air temperature and my problem. Is there an air temperature sensor on the petrol engine? Anybody got any ideas?
