Hi,as a new member, could anybody help me locate a new heater hose for our 1991 309 GLD Peugoet,it's the hose from the engine block to the heater matrix. How much if available would a set of silcon hoses be?

These parts are still available from a Peugeot Main Dealer.

Not according to "George Heath Motors" Anyway it turns out it wasn't the hose but the aluminium water pipe to the matrix had a hole and according to again"George Heath"you can't buy the pipe you have to buy the complete Matrix at £65(which they hadn't got)I said the car ain't worth that much. Anyway we was down a friends today and got talking about the Peugeot and this pipe,he said come with us and down we went to a scrapyard you can still walk around, sure enough no 309's but a couple of 205's,out came the tools and extracted 1 heater matrix and 2 pipes plus a better rubber gasket and plate than ours. Job done.

Thr cars not worth £65 to fix? It'd cost a mite more than that to replace it with another car, and if by a miracle you found a taxed and tested going concern for £65 it'd likely have it's own health problems. Still and all, glad the scrappies saved the day

I said that with tongue in cheek There was a nearly identical 309 on e-bay last week,a 92 ours a 91 with T & T at £51(when I viewed) Anyway I filled the water up and slapped the jump leads on and away she went :Dlet her run for a long time,no leaks, all pipes nice and warm, heater blowing good warm air, temp gauge sat at first section then slowly rose to just under half way,I was waiting for the fans to come on,they didn't But I can't remember the fans ever working since I fitted a new radiator years ago,the temp gauge never went over half way even when we had the caravan on the back, infact the only time was in January when I lost all the water. Being as I'm no great electritian how can I check why the fans ain't working(the 2 Haynes manuels I've got don't say).

Hi, perhaps this should be in the tech forum?
The cooling is pretty efficient on these and the fans rarely come on. You need to run at a fast idle with the car parked and wait. Eventually the temp goes above normal and the fans cut in. Don't walk away while you wait, because if the fans are not working it could overheat. A temperature switch on the side of the rad switches on the fan relays. Some systems have two speed control - an additional temp sensor on the rad so the fan motors are switched from series to parallel if the coolant gets really hot. The two speed system uses three relays. I have a good 309 diesel rad & working fans if you need.
