Hi all, back again. The 405 diesel Estate (L reg) is still going well. Didnt take it camping this year as we went with another family and hired a minibus. The tent leaked and broke so we launched it before comming home. We have now bought a trailer tent. Have fitted the tow bar. (The main plate was already there. All I had to do was fit an extension piece borrowed from a P reg Volvo). Next job is the electrics. Side lights, brake and indicators seem simple enough, but does anyone have any hints for the fog and reversing lights. The first outing should be during half term to Dorset. PS. The old snail failed the MOT. Nearside headlight to low and nearside rear indicator the wrong colour (the inner plastic bit came loose). Very expensive this motoring game !!!!!!

Found a site called Towequipe. Bought the electric kit for £10.24. (was £40). Good site and quick service. Will fit this weekend.

Electrics fitted using the kit from Towequipe. (I dont think I have come across an internet shop that answers e-mails as quick as this). A few problems as you can see from my e-mail to Towequipe.
Hi Kelly, thanks again for your reply. Panic over. Decided not to use the 2nd indicator as it serves no purpose as the normal dash indicator does the job. The other problem was the fog lamp connector. The instructions say, " Lead the grey and blue wires to the left side of the trunklid and connect them with the present connector." As we have an estate and the fog lamps are on the tailgate finding the wiring was a problem. Eventually we discovered the connector block inside the pillar, behind the nearside rear passenger courtesy light. This involved removing the rear window trim and feeding the wiring through. Not the easiest of tasks but when completed very gratifying. Another mystery was the nearside sidelight. Although we had continuity there was no voltage showing at the socket. The cars lamp was lit though. To overcome this we just linked pins 5 and 7 which seemed to do the trick. Once again thankyou for your time.
Great fun. Picking the Trailer tent up next weekend. Will let you know how it goes. (If I remember).

Its a bit of a delayed post but I have been working away and not much time at the weekends. The old snail pulled the trailer tent really well. A bit slow on a few hills but overall pretty good. More News. I lost the remote control key when the car was locked, immobilisor on. After an anxious time on the internet I found a quick solution. Removing fuse 13 disables it but also turns off the central locking and courtesy light. So all doors have to be manually locked. A bit of a pain but the car still works. A fortnight ago I paid £150 for new front brake pads, rear brake shoes and both rear cylinders to be fitted. Last week the clutch went completely, the flywheel broke and put a hole in the sump. It will cost far to much to repair a car this old and with so many faults already. So I'm afraid L'escargot will be going to the garage in the sky. Goodbye and good motoring to all you Peugot fans.
(PS. The new car is a '99 Vauxhall Astra Envoy 1700 TD Estate.)
