The siren on my 2002 306 cabriolet is faulty no sound - due to water damage internal battery's / PCB burnt out - how ever I have tried 2 used sirens but still no sound I don't know if sirens need setting up some how ? what is the need of the built in battery's Does anybody have a known working siren kicking around. I'm guessing, but the internal battery is a back up battery so the alarm will still sound if some toerag cuts the power supply.
I'd be a mite suspicious if other sirens also are failing to work. Try sticking a voltmeter on the supply to see if the siren is receiving the necessary voltage to power it. Alas, I'm not a 306 guru so can't tell you more, but the 06 Registrar knows 306s inside out and may be able to assist, though you need to be a paid member to contact him.

Has the siren ever worked? Do you know the siren can be switched off with a key,the key barrel switch is in the engine bay.

Hi thanks thank you Piston bloke I am a paid member so I will contact the O6 registrar for more info on what checks to carry out.
Oldppug: the answer is I believe it has worked well in the 8 years of its life but not sure when it finally gave up the ghost. only had car short time the one and only owner died so car sold by family you say that there is a siren mute switch could you tell me a bit more about this & were it may be found and what key is required.

the siren can be turned on and off with a key, the barrel for the key is on the slam panel in front of the battery, if you buy a replacment siren you should get a key for it with it
