Peugeot Parts Dept

Went into my local Peugeot dealer's parts dept to order clips that hold on the heat shield above the exhaust on my 407sw. Well after half an hour searching on the computer for the clips i required the guy behind the desk eventually found what i was looking for,,,,or so he thought he'd found what i was looking for.

Anyway he ordered the clips for me, charged me £3.80 and informed me that the clips would be ready for collection in 2 days time which i at the time was more than happy with.

Two days later i went to collect my clips as by this time my heat shield was rattling away battering off the back box of my exhaust. On presenting me with bolts/ not clips i realized what he'd given me were infact the wrong part.....as you can imagine i was not a happy chappy. The guy then told me i would have to look somewhere else for what i was looking for as he couldnt help me.

I then asked him where i was supposed to find them if my local Peugeot dealer couldnt supply me with the correct clips....he said he didnt know. I took the bolts and told the old C**T to shove his clips.



Anyhow...remembering way back to the early nineties having to buy similar clips for the heat shield on my old Mk2 Golf Gti i then went to my local Volkswagen dealer and asked the parts dept there if they could supply me with heat shield clips?? Guess what the guy asked me............the first words to come out the guys mouth were,,,how many do you need???

Now can anyone tell me, why Peugeot cant supply the same sort of service?

Oh just incase anyone is wondering i bought six clips. I only needed two but just incase i ever needed them again i bought 6. And they only cost me £2.40. And they had them in stock for me to take away there and then....car was fixed in 5 mins...

Has anyone else had this sort of experience?

I've been working at a Peugeot/Talbot parts dept for a good few years now, too many i care to forget...The experience you pick up along the way is invaluable to the service we try and give but sometimes you get someone who hasn't got this yet or hasn't a clue

Going way back to the days of the 205,309 they fitted these clips for the heatshield they look like a push-through clip but this clip has screw which holds the heatshield in place so it doesn't rattle

I still uses them to this day for all models Part Number 153916 they cost about 50p each

The parts department at my local dealers are fantastic.

Don't confuse one particular dealer or even a single member of staff being useless, with all the marques dealers being the same way.
