I read on here somewhere about replacing the matrix on a 304 cabriolet heater with one from a 205, to improve the performance of the heater. Having just endured a 100 mile journey in freezing temperatures I am interested to know if anyone has done it and how hard it was to do, and most importantly - did it work?!

It was me but I've not tried it yet. It depends on the dimensions of the 205 matrix. I've got a spare 304 heater box which I can measure up. Just need to compare them and make sure the pipes can come out okay. It should make a massive improvement as the fan is powerful enough.
Don't get one of them ceramic heaters that plug into the cig lighter. They're rubbish and will melt your fusebox - Or it did mine anyway!

I'm a way off doing my heater yet but if you do get a 205 matrix could you let me know the measurements. I drove my cabriolet through winter once and know how you feel!
One other thing... If the conversion is done it may be tricky to plumb in the heater valve. However, even in the height of summer with the roof down I always have the heater on hot. So, personally I'd leave out the valve and plumb it straight to the engine.
Good luck and keep me posted!!
