Recently it began failing to start until the key was moved about in the barrell. This condition deteriorated (sometimes it displayed "electronic ignition fault" and a red key on the dash) until it would't start at all. The garage replaced and programmed the key but said that the fault persisted and the ignition switch and the cable harness needed to be replaced. My cable harness has 6 wires from the ignition switch, 3 (red, yellow, blue) to a multiplug, 3 (red, yellow, orange) to a second multiplug which has a smaller plug attached via a black wire. I have sourced another switch but the harness has only 5 wires from the switch, 2 wires (no red) to the second multiplug. The seller assures me that this is ok and the garage is willing to fit it but don't know for sure if it will work. Are these harness interchangeable? Is this a common fault? Any advice on this problem welcome.
