Hello - I am just about to try and sort out the clutch on my 504 pick up and want to bleed th system first . According to the manual, it can only be done by reverse feed but it also describes an emergency method using the brake caliper. Has anyone managed to do this or know of another method that will work ? All advice gratefully received

The most simple method is to connect a piece of rubber bleed tube to the clutch slave cylinder bleed nipple and the n/side front brake caliper bleed nipple, open both nipples and pump the BRAKE pedal.Have someone checking the reservoir, when air bubbles stop close nipples. Its a lot quicker if the bleed tube is full of fluid first, open caliper nipple and as your fitting it to the slave get some one to lightly press the brake pedal. This has always worked for me,and better than these fluid pump kits that are available.

Thanks very much. I suspect that I will need to replace the clutch. Can I use the same proceedure to replace the lost fluid?

Back bleeding is the only way.If its dry just try to get as much fluid in the system as poss`,like filling up and letting it drip out of the slave nipple for a while before you start the bleed procedure. Its an awkward job, fluid up your sleeve etc but you will get there.

Thanks very much for the advice. If it ever stops raining here, I will set to with tubing and fluid. I have to admit when I first read about this method , I was completely puzzled - still am.
I suppose that's the joy of Peugeot engineering

This was a Peugeot "secret" I learned the hard way in the 70`s.After spending two days bleeding conventionally and stripping master and slave cylinders three times each and getting no pedal.A bit of rubber pipe, pump the BRAKES six times, job done.
