307 1.6hdi turbo

hi all,
i'm new to the board.
recently bought a 307 1.6hdi.....unfortunately it is a bit of a mutt. to say the least!
in short, there was no turbo, inside my turbo, if you can get the picture. just wondered whether people recommend getting a recon/second hand or go for new? and any good companies you would recommend if so. thanks

Recons as good as any if it's from a reputable source.

TTS in Northampton are worth a go, although availability of the older type Garret turbo, which yours may well have, can sometimes be difficult as the same turbo is used in the nations favourite police car, the Focus diesel.

As you can imagine, the police cars get thrashed mercilessly from stone cold, never get idled or cooled down before parking up etc, so the bulk of the recon turbo's end up being snapped up by dibble workshops around the country to replace blowers that they coppers have slaughtered.
