my 307 1.6hdi 110 sport, had a loss of power didnt know where to start as ive had not faults appear on my dash as usually happens, so got an auto mechanic to do a code read with a snap on reader...it said i need my diesel particle filter unblocking any one know if you can buy cleaner that works in the diesel, or is it a main dealer jobby. am really desperate for advise cos i understand the eolys fluids is bout £40 quid a litre and a new filter is nearly £300 any advise welcome. thank you

you can try taking it to a pug dealer and getting them to force a regeneration on it, might work but doesnt always. if it doesnt you have no choice but to replace it, and you wont get away without refilling the fluid either

If it's the worst cse and it needs replacement and the ELOYS fluid replacing, it's cheaper to get the whole FAP system removed by one of the several specialists that do this work. Indeed, I know a chap that did it himself and reprogrammed his own ECU, but he's a clever sort.
It's win-win. no more hassles, a little more power as the engine doesn't have a sock stuffed down it, and it's legal/MOT friendly.
It is possible to clean the filter yourself, top up the fluid and reset the counters via Planet, but it's not straightforward and requires kit you won't have.

we shouldnt really advise people to clean the filter themselfs as all there going to do is pour it down the drain which isnt right now is it lol

thanks for the advice will be popping my lovely pugsley down to the dealer for it to be done. me being a meer woman i only know where the diesel goes and how to drive it like stig.. its a fantastic motor and it goes like s**t of a stick......keeps up with 1.9 tdi golf and goes like the clappers. am well impressed with this car and even get it washed and polished so it looks brand new every week. it got a very good mpg generally 50ish and many more on motor way much better than previous 206 hdi. cant wait for it to be back to its old self.....mind you even tho its not quite right still managed 105 very easily the other nite will let ya know how things go
