:-/ive have been quoted nearly £1000 to have my dpf removed, the chap who is gonna do it is also gonna remap the ecu to get rid of it so i get no more regens or codes. also he's gonna remap it so i get about 40 more bhp. does this sound reasonable or is it best to get a new filter and eolys top up too. think i gonna go for the 1st option has any one else had this done

WAAAYYYY too much. If you're mechanically inclined to a fairly advanced degree, it can be done DIY for about £100.
I'd split the difference and say the £500 is mark is about right, considering the FAP removal will take about 1.5 to 2 hrs labour + VAT, and a half decent remap costs £250-£350 on it's own.
£1000 is either their way of telling you they don't want the business, or you walked in the workshop on April 1st.
