Peugeot 304 Cabriolet JBB 920K has passed its MoT. Off to DVLA for free 12 months tax tomorrow - back in the driving seat for the first time for more than 35 years! (Thanks for your help, Dave)

Thanks! But this is the west of Scotland, what sunshine? Dave, do you have an offside, lower ball joint. I'm going to need one shortly. You can contact me on kerry.gill@express.co.uk

The ball joint is a fancy fitting to the stub axle and should have a grease nipple on the bottom. Have you tried pumping some grease into it first to take up the play?

Thanks Dave, I'd forgotten about grease nipples! Drove home for the first time, but conked out on a steep hill. Garage seems to think it was simply fuel starvation and that restorers had fitted a too narrow petrol pipe... Also 165 x 80 tyres too large, fouling on rear arches, so I'll try something smaller

Yes, put on 165/70 R14's. That's what I've got on mine. They work out more or less the same profile as the original 145 R14's.
Do the 165 80's fit on the front do you know? I'm thinking of getting some for long distances as it'll be like using a higher gearing for the engine.

Yes, the 165 X 80s seem okay on the front, only I think the car will look a bit high at the front if there are lower profiles on the rear, but if just for the odd journey that probably wouldn't matter. Would 165 x 65s be okay - it is just that I have been offered a set at a good price?

Yes, they'll fit fine but just be smaller overall diameter. It may affect the speedo slightly though.
