:-/hi guys new to forum's i have a 1.6gti 91 road/track car i bought it with cracked block but camed head so got new another block put camed head and all was good until at knockhill cam shaft seal went spraying oil on timming belt belt sliped off goin ninto first corner at 75ish n bent some valves stripped it down put new valves in got all valves lapped in and clearances wit bucket and shims and valve stem oil seals wit full head gasket set ive got head back on again n pretty much everything back on but i'm confussed to what valves should be open/closed on what pistons i'm looking at valve wit rocker off and getting block to tdc wit screwdriver down the spark on chamber 1 i'm at college at the moment but only in first year and not been taught much bout this any help would be appreciated don't wana get it wrong as spent ages getting head just right cheers Attachments:

can i ask what ure trying to achive? if your just wanting to time it up line the crank pully up to the slot in the bolt and insert a 10mm bolt though it to lock it then the same with the camshaft. that will then be timed up properly.
if you want to know just about the valves then, when it is firing no.1 then the valves on no.4 cylinder will be on the "rock" ie, the inlet and exhaust valve lobes on the camshaft will be just swapping over. if you get me lol
