JBB 920K, my 1972 304 Cab, has now covered a couple of hundred miles without further mishap having got petrol feed and pump sorted, and pulls quite well. New hood to be fitted when it will, hopefully, remain dry inside. Main problem is the clattery rear end and various creaks, but suspension seems fit and car well greased - a tendency to hop about on rough surfaces, although the roads in Central Scotland are, officially, the worst in Europe. Any thoughts anyone?

The metal insert on the top mount can "debond" and push through. You will not see this unless the rear strut is removed and the coil spring removed, its a simple job.

They're impossible to find too Kerry. While the shockers are off check that the arms move on their pivots okay. One of mine was solid on the bushes. Also, one of my rear shockers had also corroded through and dumped its oil.
Glad the fuel pump works okay. Did you change the pipe too?

Thanks, Dave. The original garage was supposed to have checked all that, but I'll get our local one to take a look. The petrol pump works perfectly and we put in a new petrol line. The car starts first shot with no choke now, even after being left standing for two weeks.

This is one of the problems with taking an old classic to "your local garage" .While they may know their stuff on all the late stuff and be good blokes you need someone who has had experience of these 40yrs ago to crack various faults and quirks.
