406 coupe braking fault

I have a 2002 406 coupe, its the 3ltr V6 model. The fault Messages Braking System Defective and ASR/ESP Defective is displayed, along with this when the brakes are applied there is a clunking sound and it feels as if the ABS is activated. I have replaced both front ABS sensors and this has stopped the fault message Braking System Defective. However, both the ASR/ESP Defective message is still displayed and the clunking noise still occurs. The clunking noise sounds like a spring being compressed and then rapidly released. Has anybody out there had any problem of this nature or could they possibly advise me on what it is likely to be please?

you realy need to get the car code read. only then will you know whats wrong with it
