Has anyone experienced cd's jumping caused by road bumps on any car .......i have a 406 estate , executive, with the auto changer as you'll maybe know mounted in a compartment in the boot , on anything other than a real smooth surface (hard to find) the cd skips/jumps......i don't use it much myself so ive not really bothered to look into the cause........no doubt someone out there will have experienced the same problem on other cars any help/suggestions welcome.

Perfectly normal that CDs jump on bumps or holes on a road. Mine does too, but not with minor bumps or irregular road surfaces. Maybe yours is too sensitive.

cheers for the reply, only ever had dash all in one units so this is new to me , obviously a problem though , hoping someone has encountered similar, to ease it ive considered mouting it more loosely with maybe some foam under it......but the root cause would still be there......that will be my last resort !!!

yes mine does this too. Perhaps more expensive units have larger buffers to prevent this. Pretty much solved the annoyance by adding an FM transmitter to my ipod. CD's in cars are pretty much over I'd say.

just to say i cured the problem, mounted it with some foam under it and left it loose in the mounting bracket and chocked the four corners also with a little foam.......looks crap but its hidden away.... its never skipped once even over those nasty lumps that appear all over the roads today , speed humps the council call them !!!!......so maybe worth a try for anyone suffering similar problems.
