New 505 owner

I guys,,,my name is John and I'm from Ireland...Firstly I must confess that up to now I would have been a Renault fan, and probably first and foremost I still am.
Anyway, recently I found myself Renaultless and my friend who is a member of this club who has a large collection of Peugeots. I had been storing a few of his cars for him but I always had admired a 505 GTi Auto that I had in my shed. Anyway to cut a long story short I persuaded him to sell me the 505 which he agreed to do subject to him getting first option to buy it back, when I get tired of it--he knows what my attention span is like ..I have to say though, he won't be getting it back any time soon, I'm smitten with it. I have the service work done bar the timing belt which in intend to do soon(kit or belt only?) The only thing that doesnt work is the sunroof, and I'll live without it for the time being... Here is a few photos after I pulled it out of the shed and gave it a quick wash. 49800 genuine miles and in superb condition. Has had a bit of paint here and there but looks great. I will post better pics when I get it polished some day thats its not raining!

That brings back memories,I had one same model, colour,trim the lot.Had it for years,thousands of miles,never ever went wrong and drove like an old Bentley.Did you know the GTi has a Renault engine so you have part of your old love back.Watch out when changing the cam belt as it has a balance shaft that also drives the distributor.Its a tricky job timing it all up and may be worth finding some one who`s done one before.I`ve never had the roof in bits but I have a feeling if the cables broken its rear screen out and headlining down job as the motor is in the rear wing. That`s a nice car,best of luck.
