I have bought a lovely 205 1.4 GR 1993 on K it has only 34000 on clock with a service history of nearly a service every year and sometimes doing only 900 miles in a year. The interior is immaculate no rust just a few light marks. The problem is its just not running right, i have been trying to get some ht leads for it and i am having a mare. I have been told to try main dealers so there next. I have the online version of haynes manual and i see there are a few versions of the engine TU3 TU3A TU3A/K TU3M/Z TU3FM/L TU3S and TU3S/M? How do i find which one is mine incase i need to know what carb or filters or coil ect ect. Could anyone tell me if there are any common faults to look for. Many thanks in advance Cliff

You say it has a carb` are you sure?? A 93 1.4 205 is mono injection. It may look like a carb` as its a large unit in the middle of the manifold. If your car`s vin number has KDY or KDZ in it the engine should be a TU3M.It sounds as if you have found a "one off" They were a cracking little car in their day, very reliable and never suffered any faults. The only problems you may encounter will be due to age and lack of use.If it is mono injection you will need to get someone who`s familiar with the set up to check it out. I bet all it will need is HT leads a bit of extra servicing, injector cleaner in the tank and a good thrashing to "clean the engine and cat`" Try www.peugeotparts.co.uk Dean will have the HT`s and will sort it out if your near Yorkshire??

thanks for reply, i had a look at carb and think you are right about the single point injection, thought it was a straight carb because i seen the butterfly lever in the carb unit. I think you are also right about the lack of use. It splutters abit when cold just as you first put pressure on gas, i have changed leads and fuel filter its better but not gone away, seems a bit heavy on fuel too. Any suggestions would be well received.
Many thanks Cliff

Cliff, Take your chassis number into any peugeot dealer parts department and he will use his computer system to identify the exact car. They will be able to then identify the HT leads for you. If genuine peugeot ones are no longer available then I am sure there will be Motaquip ones available. If you don`t get on with your local dealer then let me have the chassis number and I will identify them and try and locate them for you. email me on icky1@sky.com. Ian

As I said you need to find someone with the old diagnostic tools who is familiar with this old Peugeot/Citroen system.I bet it will be something to do with wiring/multi-plugs on the injector unit or lamda/catalytic converter problem. Also if its got KDY or KDZ in the vin number its a TU3M engine, all 1993 1.4 mono injection`s are these.I had one that was missing, stalling,K light on,etc all over the place. All I did was put special injector cleaner in the tank and gave it a big red line thrashing!! and it was a different car,ran ok and K light out. Its always simple solutions with these old TU`s.

Thanks again for replys.
I changed the rotor and dizzy cap yesterday seems a lot better the cap had a fairly big wear groove in it. Will try it out in the morning when its cold, and i am travelling down to Northhampton the weekend so i will blast it then, and i will add some redex in it.
Cheers
