What are your thoughts about the Peugeot 806's?
We have had two (since my time away from the forum).
We purchased one, as an emergency - we were away on holiday as our Lucida failed on it, to be fair at least it got us there! (We tow a touring caravan)
Anyway, the blue one was an emergency buy, a bit beaten up, bought from a dealer, knocked £100 off the price he wanted for it and came away with it.
On Day 8 (when we were towing home) we had to keep stopping as it was over heating.
We called our recovery out who said it had blown its head gasket.
I must stress that with the long journey ahead of us, we always check oil levels, tyre pressures, water levels - etc etc etc.
When we called the dealership to tell him that the car was not 'fit for purpose' he swore at us and told us to ''do one''!
We tried to get our money back on it, but to no avail.
We then bought a Roland Garros 806, very posh car - newer and worked well for about 6 months ... then guess what happened? That also blew it's head, right before I was about to drop with TWINS!
We spent over £1,000 on the new head and all the work that had to be completed. Got it back only 3 days before I had the twins, in fact I went into labour the same day we got it back.
4 weeks later - it went... again!
We could no way afford another £1,000+ and my parents in law wouldn't even lend us some dosh because they were going on holiday to spain.. (how lovely of them..! )
Anyway, washed our hands of it completely, 2 cars the same problem was just not great!
Sold both on eventually, purchased a Ford Transit minibus and now I am looking into purchasing a 406, but I just wonder - how many other people have had simular problems with their 806's?
I read that this is quite a common thing in the 806's, the cooling system has to be looked after and cared for A LOT or else your in big trouble - I just wonder what you all make of this - have you been let down too?
Are there any other Peugeots that suffer with this cooling system problem?
