a couple of scrapyard finds

Went down my local yard yesterday: Haynes of challow near wantage, south oxon.

Was a fresh-in 205 Diesel, H-plate, 4 door, red, no engine or g/box but bodywork looked good and it had a MINT grey cloth interior, a few grease stains and a little grubby, but no rips or wear to any of the seats.

Also was a K-plate 605. Top of the tree model, when did you last see one of these? looked like a HG failure to me, but that had a minter-than-mint Black leather interior.

Yes, the H reg 205 looked better than some on the road! Body and interior wise
Wonder why it was there, maybe engine failure?

^ Havent the foggiest. It only had 118k on the clock if I remember correctly.

Dont think it was engine failure, as the engine ad gearbox had been removed (my presumption being if they were toast they'd have been left in there). It appeared to have been pretty well looked after: traded in at a dealership maybe?

I'm pretty sure the 605 was an engine failure though, judging by the mayo on the inside of the oil filler

I'm just outside Pangbourne, I was down Haynes on Xmas eve looking for a Mareli distributor for my 1.1 that keeps stopping intermittantly.

Ah right, yes I saw your post, Distributor seems like a fair shout, thought it could potentially be crud in the fuel lines if it wasnt for the backfiring. Worth a check anyway I suppose.

Anyway I may be making the trek up to smiths of Bloxham (up near banbury: reccomended!) in the not too distant future to look for for some bits for the beemer, I'll keep an eye out for a marielli dizzy if I do

A mate of mine moves between "pangers" in the week and Didcot at the weekends, I'll keep an eye out for you if I'm ever down your way.
